Know about the difference between Cruise and Ballistic Missiles

What-Is-the-Defference-Between-Ballistic-Missiles-and-Cruise-Missiles-_1_

India has many missiles which are protecting its boundaries. You can see the article : Know about the Indian missiles protecting India for more information. There is a debate of which missile is the best cruise or ballistic missile. Here,we are giving our readers a comparison between ballistic missiles and Cruise missiles.

Ballistic Missiles

Indian Ballistic-missile

A ballistic missile uses projectile motion to deliver warheads on a target. These weapons are guided only during relatively brief periods as most of the flight is unpowered. Short-range ballistic missiles stay within the Earth’s atmosphere, while intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) are launched on a sub-orbital flight. Ballistic missiles can be launched from fixed sites or mobile launchers, including vehicles. The powered flight portion can last from a few tenths of seconds to several minutes and can consist of multiple rocket stages

The Indian Ballistic Missile Defence Program is an initiative to develop and deploy a multi-layered ballistic missile defence system to protect India. Phase 1 has been successfully tested and completed and deployment awaits final official permission. Phase 2 is under development

Cruise Missiles

BrahMos Missile

A cruise missile is a guided missile used against terrestrial or naval targets that remains in the atmosphere. It flies the major portion of its flight path at approximately constant speed. Cruise missiles are designed to deliver a large warhead over long distances with high precision. Modern cruise missiles are capable of travelling at high subsonic, supersonic, or hypersonic speeds. They are self-navigating, and are able to fly on a non-ballistic, extremely low-altitude trajectory.

India has the fastest supersonic cruise missile in the world named BrahMos.
