What are Transport Aircrafts ?
The military transport aircraft, military cargo aircraft or airlifter is a military-owned transport aircraft. They are used to support military operations by airlifting troops and military equipment. Transport aircrafts are crucial to maintaining supply lines to forward bases that are difficult to reach by ground or water. They can be used for both strategic and tactical missions.
They were recently used for civilian emergency relief missions like Operation Ganga.

Ilyushin IL-76

The Ilyushin Il-76 is a multi-purpose, fixed-wing, four-engine turbofan strategic airlifter. The Soviet Union’s Ilyushin design bureau designed this powerful aircraft. The IAF uses the Ilyushin Il-76, known as Gajraj in Indian service. The IAF operated 17 Il-76s in 2010.
C-17 Globemaster

The McDonnell Douglas/Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is a large military transport aircraft. The United States Air Force (USAF) developed this dynamic aircraft. The Indian Air Force (IAF) selected the C-17 for its Very Heavy Lift Transport Aircraft requirement to replace several types of transport aircraft. The IAF has a number of 11 C-17 Globemaster.
C-130 J Super Hercules

The Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft. The Lockneed Martin developed this military aircraft. IAF C-130Js are used by special forces for combined Army-Air Force operations. The IAF has Twelve C-130J-30s in service as of December 2019.
Antonov An-32

The Antonov An-32 is a turboprop twin-engined military transport aircraft. Its designer and manufacturer are Antonov and Aviant respectively. The Antonov An-32, known in Indian service as the Sutlej, serves as a medium transport aircraft in the IAF. The aircraft plays an important part in bombing roles and paradropping operations. The IAF currently operates 105 An-32s.
EADS CASA C-295 Transport Aircrafts

The CASA C-295, which is now called Airbus C295, is a medium tactical transport aircraft. It was designed and initially manufactured by the Spanish aerospace company CASA.
India has ordered 56 C-295Ws for the Indian Air Force, with an additional six units for the Indian Coast Guard.
Hawker Siddeley HS 748

The Hawker Siddeley HS 748 is a medium-sized turboprop airliner. They were originally designed and initially produced by the British aircraft manufacturer Avro.
The Hawker Siddeley HS 748 once formed the backbone of the IAF’s transport fleet, but are now used mainly for training and communication duties.
Dornier 228 Transport Aircrafts

The Dornier 228 is a twin-turboprop STOL utility aircraft, designed and first manufactured by Dornier GmbH.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) bought a production license and manufactured another 125 aircraft in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. In July 2017, 63 aircraft were still in airline service.
The IAF operates 53 Dornier 228 to fulfill its light transport duties.
Boeing 777

The Boeing 777, is an American long-range wide-body airliner developed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It is the world’s largest twinjet. These aircraft are used as Air India One for Presidential flights. In other words it is a VVIP transport aircraft.

Embraer Legacy 600

The Embraer Legacy 600 is a business jet derivative of the Embraer ERJ 145 family of commercial jet aircraft. This Brazilian aircraft has been in the Indian Air Force as the VIP transport aircraft.
