Corvettes

Indian Navy comes in fourth position in the world in terms of quantity of them.

The Corvette is a small warship. It is even smaller than a frigate. It is almost 500 ton 2000 tons.

Indian Navy currently operates 22 corvettes of 5 classes:-

1. Kamorta Class

2. Kora class

3. Khukri class

4. Veer class

5. Abhay class.


Kamorta class

The Kamorta class is a stealth ASW corvette. It was built by Garden Reach shipbuilders and engineers in India.

Corvettes

It was primarily designed for anti-submarine warfare .

It has a standard displacement of 3000 tons.

They can gain a speed of 46 km/hr.

The crew contains 123 members including 17 officers.

Kora class

The Kora class is a guided missile corvette. They are the National coast guard of Mauritius.

The vessels were built by Garden Reach shipbuilders and engineers and were fitted at Mazagon Dock Limited.

It has a displacement of 1,400 Tons. 

They can gain a speed of 46 km/hr.

The ship crew contains 134 members including 14 officers. Convert

Khukri class  

Khukri class corvette ships are a part of the Indian Navy. The first Two were ordered in December 1983 and the remaining in 1985. The diesel engine of The Khukri Class was assembled by the Kirloskar group of India.

They can gain a speed of 44 km per hour.

The crew of the ship contains 112 sailors and 12 officers.

Veer class

Veer class forms the 22nd killer missile vessel Squadron. They were built at Mazagon Dock Limited, Goa Limited.

INS Nishank

They have a standard displacement of 455 tons.

A total of eight ships are still serving in the Indian Navy.

Abhay class

The Abhay class is primarily intended for coastal petrol and anti-submarine warfare.

They have a displacement of 440 tons.

They can gain a speed of 52 km /hr.

A crew of 32 members including six officers are needed to handle this ship.
